Blood Widow Synopsis
Laurie and Hugh are a successful young couple who have just closed on a weekend home away from the city. Unbeknownst to them, the neighboring property contains the crumbling remains of a boarding school that was shuttered in the wake of an unspeakable massacre. The one responsible for that massacre resides in the ruins of the school, hiding from the world and wanting only to be left alone. When Laurie and Hugh’s friends explore the property, they have no idea that they disturbed an emotionally-broken killing machine: The Blood Widow.
From the Press Release
Arcani Pictures LLC are proud to announce a terrifying new independent horror film entitled Blood Widow. The film is being crafted under the direction Jeremiah Buckhalt, a recent graduate of Full Sail University’s Film Bachelor of Science program. Buckhalt also wrote the story and created the titular character that we at Arcani Pictures are thrilled to unleash on horror fans. “Directing a movie like this is something I’ve wanted to do my whole life. When audiences see this character in motion, I don’t think they’ll be able to forget it,” Buckhalt exclaims.
Chad Coup serves as co-writer and producer on the film. “I can say with complete confidence that we made this movie for horror fans that want an old-school ride. We don’t want our audience to be bored for one second, and we’re going to make sure this delivers what horror fans want.” Co-writer Ian Davis says, “We’ve created some really interesting characters. We aren’t giving you the usual pack of moronic teenage slasher victims. People are going to feel it as painfully as the characters do.”
Brothers Derek Marunowski and Phillip Marunowski are handling the production design and art direction, respectively, for this feature. “We managed to get on-screen the exact level of detail and specificity needed in the sets and locations to bring the script to life. Jeremiah was extremely happy that what the audience will see will not only be effective, but will create a memorable world that they are sure to revisit in their nightmares,” Derek Marunowski assures. Phillip Marunowski comments on the set decoration and wardrobe, “Everything from the individual dust-covered objects to the choice of fashion for the actors has gone through a very detailed planning process. The backstory of the film is actually hidden inside the set decoration in the boarding school, so audiences that yearn for that explanation will be rewarded if they pay close attention. For those that are simply looking for a wild ride, just sit back and enjoy the bloodbath.”
Blood Widow has wrapped principal photography, which took place in and around off-the-beaten-path locations in central Florida on the Red One camera under the eye of Director of Photography Andrew Barton.
