So maybe you’ve heard a lot about online movie screenings but haven’t checked one out yet. Here’s your big chance. On Friday, February 10th, Constellation.tv will be holding an online screening of Mike Flanagan’s awesome film Absentia, and it will be hosted by… me!
Yes, yours truly, Doctor Gash, Dread Central’s own practitioner of malpractice, will be hosting the online Absentia screening later this week, giving a brief introduction to the film and holding a Q&A following the show. And this is one theater where audience members are encouraged to chat amongst themselves as a dialogue box remains open throughout the film so that viewers can interact with each other and the host. It’s a really unique way to experience a movie, and Absentia (review here) is a great film you’re guaranteed to enjoy.
The fun starts at 12:00 Midnight ET/9:00 PM PT. Absentia is the first in what Dread Central, Doctor Gash and Constellation hope becomes a regularly hosted film series. Be sure to let us know your thoughts and suggestions for future installments!
Absentia stars Katie Parker, Courtney Bell, David Levine, Morgan Brown, Justin Gordon, James Flanagan, and genre favorite Doug Jones.
Synopsis
Tricia’s (Bell) husband has been missing for seven years. Her younger sister, Callie (Parker), comes to live with her as the pressure mounts to finally declare him ‘dead in absentia.’ Tricia is reluctant, always holding out hope, but Callie is practical and wants her to move on. As Tricia sifts through the wreckage and tries to move on with her life, Callie finds herself drawn to an ominous tunnel near the house. As she begins to link it to other mysterious disappearances, it becomes clear that his presumed death might be anything but ‘natural.’ It seems that the ancient force at work in the tunnel might have set its sights on Callie and Tricia … and Tricia’s husband might be suffering a fate far worse than death in its grasp.
Can’t make the screening? Absentia has a February 7th Ultra-VOD release planned, and it hits DVD on March 13th.
