The Latest TRICK from Todd Farmer & Patrick Lussier Set to Premiere at Screamfest!
Having already perfected the modern holiday slasher with My Bloody Valentine 3D, Patrick Lussier and Todd Farmer (Drive Angry) are returning to the genre for their newest offering! Last spring, the duo wrapped photography on the Halloween-themed Trick, which is scheduled to make its release next month.
For the LA locals out there, you can actually catch the flick at its U.S. premiere on October 9th at the TCL Chinese Theatre, as part of the 19th Annual Screamfest!

Trick stars Omar Epps (Dracula 2000) as Detective Mike Denver. This Halloween, Denver is tracking down a serial killer who, four years prior, managed to escape custody after offing several of his own classmates – but not before Denver shot him off a five-story building.
Now, the killer seems to be terrorizing his small town again. While few believe in “Trick”’s return, the good detective knows better. Alongside Sheriff Lisa Jane (Ellen Adair, Homeland, Sinner), Denver attempts to bring justice to his elusive conquest.
The film also stars Jamie Kennedy (Scream), Vanessa Aspillaga (Hustlers), Alex Breaux (Depraved), Kristina Reyes (Blindspot, Shades of Blue), and Thom Niemann (The Deuce). No word yet on T&A content, but writer Todd Farmer is definitely making another cameo appearance (as a deputy!), so… there’s an opportunity to be had here? Also returning to Lussier / Farmer’s cinematic world are frequent collaborators Tom Atkins (Halloween III: Season of the Witch) and SFX artist Gary Tunnicliffe (Feast, Hellraiser: Revelations).
While a trailer has yet to surface, Trick is scheduled to make its world premiere on October 5th at the Sitges International Film Festival in Italy (where it’s nominated for Best Picture). After its U.S. screening at Screamfest, you can expect the film to be released on VOD services this October 18th (via RLJE Films)!
Synopsis:
“On Halloween night in 2015, Patrick “Trick” Weaver massacred his classmates at a costume party. After being arrested, he managed to escape police custody, but not before being shot five times by Detective Mike Denver (Epps). Everyone believes Trick must be dead, but when a masked killer reappears the following Halloween, and every Halloween after that, they realize the nightmare is not over. With Trick wreaking havoc and killing innocent people in increasingly terrifying ways, Denver will stop at nothing to finish what he started and bring the carnage to an end.”
