BOOBS & BLOOD is a Film Fest and Breast Cancer Charity Event
I think we can all agree that the best breasts are healthy, and that’s why we’re pleased to get the word out about Boobs & Blood, a film fest with proceeds going to breast cancer research. Here’s the full scoop from today’s press release:
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, so once again the BOOBS & BLOOD International Film Festival comes to North Hollywood Saturday Oct. 5, for a full action-packed day of Women in Horror, All-Women Judges, cult movies, live music and fundraising for the KEEP A BREAST FOUNDATION.
In the evening a red carpet gala Honors the Queen of B-Movies, the great CHRISTINE NGUYEN as this year’s “Woman of the Year.” Christine has had and continues to have an exceptionally long and successful career in the exploitation film business, working on both A-list TV series (Dexter, CSI) and with cult feature directors such as Gregg Araki, Fred Olen Ray and Jim Wynorsk. The evening celebrates her iconic career with an Award presentation, Q&A with journalist & author Pat Jankiewicz, and the Los Angeles Premiere of Christine’s latest Grindhouse film, GIRLS, GUNS & BLOOD. As Christine says, “Words can’t do justice to how much this honor means to me. I am so looking forward to sharing this special moment with all of you. And to those who have been with me during this wild ride in the entertainment industry.”
Expect a host of B-Movie and exploitation luminaries.
During the day the festival screens the best in indie exploitation shorts and features, including Marcel Walz’s BLIND with Sarah French and Alex T. Hwang’s LILITH with Vernon Wells, Felissa Rose and Devanny Pinn. 8 hours of films for only $10.
The evening also celebrates the launch of Issue 2 of BOOBS & BLOOD magazine – a special edition celebrating the wonderful fans and fan costumes of MONSTERPALOOZA over the years. All profits from both this and issue 1 of the magazine go to KEEP A BREAST.
The evening also features an awards presentation of the festival’s best film and script winners from an All-Women panel of Judges, plus live music from Producer/Director Mike Davis (President Wolfman, Pervert!, Sex Galaxy). His band THE STRADAS “Perform imaginary movie soundtrack music for sexy Italian 1970s crime thrillers that never existed,” say Davis.
A third of the gala evening’s box office and all monies raised through celebrity raffles over the day are also donated to Breast Cancer Charity KEEP A BREAST – who will be in attendance handing out free I LOVE BOOBIES bracelets and educational information throughout the day.
The late, great SID HAIG signed and donated several items for B&B’s charity raffle while at our sister festival, HOLLYWOOD HORRORFEST, when he received the coveted PRICE AWARD from VICTORIA PRICE. We are dedicating this year’s BOOBS & BLOOD Festival to his memory. RIP Sid. We’ll all miss you.
