BE AFRAID HORROR FEST Brings Terror to Italy This November
The Be Afraid Horror Fest is a brand new festival that will be held in Gorizia (Northern Italy) this November. It’s the first (and only) horror genre film festival in Friuli Venezia-Giulia. All the screenings will be held at Kinemax, a beautiful cinema located in the biggest square of the city, which won the trophy for Best Italian Cinema at the Venice film festival this year.
Movie and festival director Federico Scargiali ( F**k You Immortality) is a true horror geek since forever, that’s why BAHF was born with the desire to finally give horror fans what they’re craving.
The jury is composed of international directors including Brian Trenchard-Smith (Night of the Demons 2, Leprechaun 3 and 4), Kurando Mitsutake (Gun Woman, Karate Kill) and Andreas Marschall (Masks, Tears of Kali).
This first year the festival received works from all around the world (over 40 countries), which was totally unexpected for the newborn fest. Hard decisions were made and some very good movies were left out, but in the end, the final selection is something extraordinary.
A total of ten full-length and twenty-three short films from twenty-two countries made the official selection, with a very good mix of subgenres. From classic slasher and ghost stories to mutant pigs and (yes) a dinosaur.
You’ll also find festival hits such as Bullets of Justice, The Furies, Ghost Killers VS Bloody Mary, and the cult classic Tammy and the T-Rex (Gore Cut).
Inside the cinema, you’ll find a permanent exhibition of original horror movie posters from the personal collection of the director and three arcade cabinets with classic horror games to entertain you between movies. A dedicated space to meet and talk with authors, a closing party with metal karaoke, and other entertaining events are planned.
The Be Afraid Horror Fest runs from the 15th through the 17th of November. Find out more about the festival and the films screening by following the links below.
