Cuddle Up with a Giant Insect in Our Exclusive Clip from SEEDS

Quiet terror and dark desires grow in Seeds, the debut film by director Owen Long now in release from Dark Star Pictures and Uncork’d Entertainment. Long planted this exclusive clip with Dread Central, which should give you an idea of Seeds’ unsettling and haunting nature. Trevor Long (Owen’s brother) of Netflix drama Ozark takes the lead role in the film. Press “Play” at the top of the article!

Seeds is a Gothic horror about a man haunted by his dark past while pursuing some self-care on the New England coast. After a night of debauchery spirals out of control, Marcus (Long) retreats to his family home along the New England coast. Solitude is disturbed when his brother asks Marcus to look after his estranged nephew and niece. As days pass, solace escapes him; he feels baited by a dark force. Is he losing his mind or has something terrible burrowed deep within him? Incubating. Waiting until the climate is right. Haunted by his deepest fears, Marcus struggles not to succumb as he fights to protect his beloved niece Lily (Andrea Chen) from a monster that lies in wait.

Explains Long: “Why this story? It began with a thought…What makes us do what we know is wrong? Knowing that our actions have reprehensible consequences, how do we justify ourselves? Why do we do it anyway? The struggle with desire, confronting right and wrong choices. Is there always a choice? The ramifications. Accountability. Accepting that consequence is inevitable and proceeding with one’s will despite the outcome. Selfish desires, weakness, nobility, and love, damnation, redemption. These questions led me to Marcus and Lily and their struggle with these forces.”

Written by Steven Weisman from the director’s story, fans can now discover Seeds for themselves on SOD/VOD. As for Dread’s clip. “This is one clip that I’ve been reluctant to release previously…been saving it for the proper occasion,” says Long. “It represents the heart of the film.”
