This Day in Horror: Happy Birthday John Kassir!

Born on this day in 1957: John Kassir.
Horror fans will know him as the voice of the Cryptkeeper in HBO’s Tales From the Crypt. The Cryptkeeper hosted each episode of the anthology series, based on the EC comics. He was known for his deliciously morbid puns, like “Greetings, hack and field fans. I hope you’re in the mood for a little fiendly competition!” and “Mama always said life was like a box of shockolates.”
With over 200 credits to his name, Kassir has done voices for everything from Tiny Toon Adventures to The Smurfs to Monsters University to War for the Planet of the Apes. But did you know that early in his career, he actually competed on Star Search? He beat out both Rosie O’Donnell and Sinbad to win $100,000.
