Born on this day in 1971: Winona Ryder.
Winona was an ’80s teen queen, starring in the pitch-black comedy Heathers and Tim Burton’s Beetlejuice. She also starred in two other Burton films: Edward Scissorhands, and as a voice in Frankenweenie.
Other horror projects to Winona’s name include Bram Stoker’s Dracula and Black Swan. Most recently, Winona has staged a “comeback” by starring as Joyce Byers in Stranger Things. In the first season of the Netflix show, Joyce created a way to contact her son, Will, in the Upside Down, by pinning Christmas lights to the wall.
