Image Gallery: James Groman’s “Two-Face” from DC Artists Alley

As we approach the high holy holiday of Halloween, every company under the moon is getting in on the spooky. The M&M’s are eating each other, a woman with a cold was accosted by sleep-deprived zombies and a Geico advert has been spinning a tale of two women who take in a witch as their new roommate. So far, one of the roommates has been turned into a half-cat. In short: EVERYTHING IS AWESOME! DC Collectibles are getting in on the creepy fun with a timely release, adding some much-needed monster realness to their DC Comics Artists Alley vinyl figure collection.

“DC Artists Alley is a stylized collection based on designs from some of today’s cutting-edge artists. The latest artist to join the collection is the monster-obsessed, multi-medium former Madballs creator James Groman. His style is highlighted with delightfully exaggerated and gory details—exposed muscle fibers, superfluous layers of teeth and rippling and calloused skin. Growing up, he was more into movie monsters than superheroes, but always held a special fondness for Batman and his unparalleled rogues’ gallery. His reimaginings of these beloved characters will evoke both wonder and terror from fans around the globe.”

DC was gracious enough to let us in on their monster fun and sent over all four of their new Groman creatures so we could get a closer look. We kick things off with Two-Face, the former politician whose face is horrifically half-scarred (playing up all stereotypes of politicians) and has a matching, fractured, dual-personality to compliment it. His Groman-crafted monster form looks like something out of the movie Freaked and is seated in a comfy chair that mirrors his dual nature. Die-hard Batman fans will note the grenade in his hand is scarred on one side, just like his iconic coin, but in this case, whichever side the grenade may land on, someone is going to lose big!

The DC Collectibles Artists Alley James Groman Bat-Monsters Collection is due out next week, so let your favorite comic shop know you have a mighty need!
