Conan The Barbarian Heads To Las Vegas In Marvel’s Upcoming Miniseries CONAN: BATTLE FOR THE SERPENT CROWN
The vast majority of stories featuring Conan the Barbarian take place in the Hyborian Age. So, fans will be surprised to see Robert E. Howard’s musclebound hero in a completely new environment when he heads to Las Vegas in Marvel’s new five-issue miniseries, Conan: Battle for the Serpent Crown.
Announced at London’s MCM Comic Con, the series will be written by Saladin Ahmed and illustrated by Luke Ross, and will see Conan heading to the City of Sin to recover the legendary Serpent Crown of Atlantis. Throughout his quest, Conan will also cross paths with some of the most recognisable heroes and villains from the Marvel Universe, including the demon Mephisto, who you may remember as being the source of controversy when he used his powers to undo Peter Parker and Mary Jane’s wedding in the infamous Spider-Man: One More Day story arc.
Marvel has certainly done a great job of integrating Conan into the regular 616 Marvel Universe since they acquired the rights to the character on loan from Conan Properties International, and it sounds like this might be one of his craziest adventures to date. The first issue of Conan: Battle for the Serpent Crown does not yet have a confirmed release date, so we suggest fans keep an eye on Marvel’s website for further details. However, the cover art for the first issue, which shows Conan taking an axe to a casino table while Mephisto grins evilly in the background, can be viewed below. The cover was drawn by Luke Ross and coloured by GURU-eFX.
