Stop the Presses: Stephen King Has Finally Heard BABY SHARK

For those of you out there that might not know (i.e. those of you out there without kids), “Baby Shark” is a song you will never get out of your head once you hear it. And in what has got to be the definition of “Breaking News” The Shining, Doctor Sleep, and IT author Stephen King has finally heard it.

Here is his reaction:

This song has been haunting me personally for about 3 years now. Welcome to the fold, Mr. King.

But anyhow, better yet was King’s reaction when a fan tweeted back: “Baby shark “Redrum”, baby shark “Redrum”, baby shark… REDRUM!”

To give a quick history lesson, “Baby Shark” is said to have originated from a campfire song in the early 20th century, possibly inspired by none other than Steven Spielberg’s classic Jaws. It became super popular in Germany when a dance version hit YouTube in 2007. But all of us parents know the Pinkfong version, which has garnered around 5 billion views, making it the most-viewed educational video phenomenon of all time.

If you really want to go ahead and do it to yourself, you can take a gander at the original video by PinkFong below. But make sure to note here and now that you’ve been warned by Dread Central AND Stephen King that it will be stuck in your head for days… and weeks… and months… and years…

And for all of those poor souls that have been victims to a toddler’s endless infatuation with the song, you have to admit, that shite is catchy af, no? Let us know what you think in the comments below or on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram!

Whatever, I’m gonna listen to it again right now.
