Jeremy Saulnier’s Netflix Thriller REBEL RIDGE Snags John Boyega

Green Room and Blue Ruin writer-director Jeremy Saulnier has a new Netflix thriller headed our way called Rebel Ridge.

And today we’ve learned via Variety that the film has snagged Attack the Block and Star Wars: The Force Awakens star John Boyega as its lead. That’s some killer casting, right?

Like Green Room, this new movie is said to be a high-velocity thriller that explores systemic American injustices through bone-breaking action sequences, suspense, and dark humor.

Filmscience and Bonneville Pictures will co-produce along with Saulnier, Anish Savjani, Neil Kopp, and Vincent Savino.

Blue Ruin star and I Don’t Feel at Home in This World Anymore director Macon Blair is executive producer.

Saulnier’s last flick was the Netflix horror-thriller Hold the Dark starring Jeffrey Wright, Alexander Skarsgård, and Riley Keough.

My favorite is without a doubt, Green Room, which centered on a punk rock band that becomes trapped in a secluded venue after finding a scene of violence. For what they saw, the band themselves become targets of violence from a gang of white power skinheads who want to eliminate all evidence of the crime.

Jeremy Saulnier directed Green Room from a script he penned himself. Neil Kopp produced along with Victor Moyers and Anish Savjani and the film featured Anton Yelchin, Imogen Poots, Alia Shawkat, Joe Cole, Callum Turner, and Patrick Stewart. A24 released the masterpiece into theaters back on April 15, 2016.
