R.L. Stine POINT HORROR Anthology Coming to HBO Max
As a child of the 90s and a massive horror fan, I am, by default, a huge fan of Goosebumps and Fear Street author R.L. Stine.
And today we’ve learned via Variety that HBO Max is developing a series based on R.L Stine’s Point Horror books.
While many authors such as Christopher Pike have written Point Horror books, this series will only focus on the ones Stine wrote.
The series is headed our way from Picturestart and Lionsgate Television and is described as an anthology that exposes the horrors of being a teenager.
Each episode will be inspired by one of the books in the series, told for today’s audiences but with a nostalgic nod to the 1990s.
Crazy Rich Asians, G.I. Joe: Retaliation, and Now You See Me 2 director Jon M. Chu is in negotiations to helm the series and executive produce alongside Stine and Yvonne M. Bernard.
What do you think of the Point Horror books? Have you read any of Stine’s entries? Let us know in the comments below or over on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram!
For those who might not know, Stine’s Fear Street is coming to the big screen soon by way of a trilogy directed by Leigh Janiak (Honeymoon). The plan is for the three films to be released one month after another.
Janiak directs all three Fear Street films from screenplays she wrote along with Kyle Killen & Phil Graziadei. They are set to star Kiana Madeira, Olivia Welch, Gillian Jacobs, Benjamin Flores Jr., and Sadie Sink. The first film is rumored to hit in June 2020.
