CARNIVAL ROW Season 2 Starts Filming
The stories of The Burgue are far from over as today we’ve learned that filming has begun on the second season of Amazon Prime’s neo-noir fantasy series Carnival Row starring Orlando Bloom and Cara Delevingne.
The show centers on a growing population of mythological creatures who struggle to coexist with humans after the creatures’ exotic homelands are invaded by the empires of man.
The creatures are forbidden to live, love or fly with freedom, but hope lives in darkness. Human detective Rycroft “Philo” Philostrate and a refugee faerie, Vignette Stonemoss, rekindle an affair despite being in an increasingly intolerant society.
Vignette has a secret that endangers Philo’s world during his most important case yet — a string of gruesome murders threatening the uneasy peace of the Row.
Carnival Row is created by René Echevarria and Travis Beacham based on Beacham’s A Killing on Carnival Row. Echevarria and Beacham are the show’s executive producers along with Marc Guggenheim, Jon Amiel, Gideon Amir, and Orlando Bloom.
Bloom and Delevingne’s co-stars include Simon McBurney, Tamzin Merchant, David Gyasi, Andrew Gower,m Karla Crome, Arty Froushan, Indira Varma, and Jared Harris.
Season One holds a 55% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes. The critical consensus reads, “Beautiful, but bloated, Carnival Row boasts meticulously crafted mythology and luscious world-building—unfortunately its story of haves and have nots simply has too much going on to create anything cohesive.”
