Mogli director and The Lord of the Rings actor Andy Serkis will helm Venom 2 from a screenplay written by Kelly Marcel. Tom Hardy is reprising the role of Eddie Brock along with Michelle Williams as Eddie’s wife Anne, Naomie Harris as Shriek, and Woody Harrelson as Cletus Kasady / Carnage.
The original centered on journalist Eddie Brock trying to take down Carlton Drake, the notorious and brilliant founder of the Life Foundation. While investigating one of Drake’s experiments, Eddie’s body merges with the alien Venom — leaving him with superhuman strength and power. Twisted, dark and fueled by rage, Venom tries to control the new and dangerous abilities that Eddie finds so intoxicating.
Ruben Fleischer directed Venom from a screenplay written by Jeff Pinkner, Scott Rosenberg, and Kelly Marcel based on the character created by Todd McFarlane and David Michelinie. Avi Arad, Matt Tolmach, and Amy Pascal produced. It starred Tom Hardy, Michelle Williams, Riz Ahmed, Scott Haze, and Reid Scott. Sony Pictures Releasing unleashed it back on October 5, 2018.
Meanwhile, Venom 2 is set for release on October 2, 2020.
