Staci Layne Wilson Teaser with Brooke Lewis Bellas For THE SECOND AGE OF AQUARIUS – Exclusive First Look Photos!
Hey, Dreadites! Just dropping in to let you guys have an exclusive first look at my newest film, The Second Age of Aquarius. We did a test shoot for our teaser and the pics are just too much fun to keep to myself.
The Second Age of Aquarius is not a horror film, but with my background—former senior reporter for Dread Central, erstwhile writer for Fangoria magazine and Horror.com, and writer-director of the 2017 zom-com feature film Fetish Factory and producer of the all-female directed 2019 horror anthology Shevenge—you can be sure this flick has a lot of blood-and-guts lurking just under the surface. Nearly everyone in front of and behind the camera has horror roots.
I co-wrote The Second Age of Aquarius with Darren Gordon Smith of Repo! The Genetic Opera fame, and we have John Gulager (Feast 1 and 2, Piranha 3DD, and Children of the Corn: Runaway) as our DP. Richard Trejo (Holidays of Horror) is our sound guy (and he has role in the film too, as Julio del Toro: angry computer nerd).
Imagine, if you will, Weird Science meets The Odd Couple meets Oliver Stone’s The Doors. That basically sums up The Second Age of Aquarius. When a young computer programmer magically brings her favorite departed rock n roll poet Russell Aquarius back to life, he’s everything she dreamed… at first. Russell was an early member of “the 27 Club” but you can’t keep a good rock star down!
A real friend to Dread Central over the years, Brooke Lewis Bellas (iMurders, Kinky Killers, Psycho Therapy), will play Tawny Stevens, a rocker mom who lives in New Jersey and is “stuck in the 80s” as evidenced by her big hair, loud clothing, and love of bands like Poison, Def Leppard, and Whitesnake.
“When Staci described Tawny to me, I knew in my heart, I had to jump into this role!” said Bellas. “Tawny is the perfect character actor part for me at this point in my career and I have been dying to step into a Mom role. Now, I get to play a Jersey 80s Rocker Mom and I am so grateful! In true Staci fashion, the supporting cast is comedic and colorful!”
I’ve worked with Brooke on many other projects, including Psycho Therapy, which has won over 30 awards on the festival circuit. We also teamed up in the past on the comedy/horror web-series she created, Ms. Vampy’s Love Bites. Brooke recently came on as an Executive Producer for The Second Age of Aquarius because, “Honestly, I am a fan! Although I am blessed to call this team longtime friends, I would never invest in, nor produce a project I do not believe in,” said Bellas. “Staci and Darren had been developing this screenplay for some time and sharing their passion for this project. Staci is one of the most gifted writers I know, I have been in awe of Darren and his writing and music, since Repo! The Genetic Opera, and I had been wanting to work with the talented John Gulager and Diane Ayala Goldner for years. All it took was Staci sending me this unique, inventive, imaginative script, and I was hooked! I follow my instincts with projects, and I feel this is another truly special indie gem and if I can help bring it to fruition in some way, I feel blessed to be a part of this!”
The Second Age of Aquarius stars Christina Jacqueline Calph (8 Days to Hell) as Alberta Stevens, and Michael Ursu (If She Screams) as Russell Aquarius. We’ve also got Diane Ayala Goldner (The Collector) and Martin Olson (Halloween Dance) in the cast.
What’s more, there are cameos by none other than Dread Central’s own Josh Millican (Chronic Horror), and the world-famous Dark Delicacies Bookstore owner and impresario, Del Howison. The Second Age of Aquarius will be filmed in Los Angeles commencing in mid-December. Our fingers are crossed for a 2020 release—I can’t wait to share this passion project with everyone who’s been so helpful throughout my career in the horror community.
