Karyn Kusama’s YELLOWJACKETS Adds Juliette Lewis & Christina Ricci
Jennifer’s Body and The Invitation director Karyn Kusama is set to direct the pilot of a new Showtime series Yellowjackets.
And today The Wrap reports Juliette Lewis (Natural Born Killers) and Christina Ricci (The Addams Family) have joined the cast of the series that centers on wildly talented high school girls soccer players who become the (un)lucky survivors of a plane crash deep in the Ontario wilderness.
The show will chronicle their descent from a complicated but thriving team to warring, cannibalistic clans, while also tracking the lives they’ve attempted to piece back together nearly 25 years later, proving that the past is never really past and what began out in the wilderness is far from over.
Created by Ashley Lyle and Bart Nickerson (Narcos) the show is also set to star Melanie Lynskey, Tawny Cypress, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Ella Purnell, Sophie Nélisse, Sammi Hanratty, Sophie Thatcher, Steven Krueger, and Amy Okuda.
Karyn Kusama’s best film is The Invitation which centers on a man attending a dinner party who starts to believe that his ex-wife and her new husband have sinister plans for the guests.
Kusama directed the thriller from a script written by Phil Hay & Matt Manfredi. Hay and Manfredi produced with Martha Griffin and Nick Spicer. It stars Logan Marshall-Green, Tammy Blanchard, Michiel Huisman, Emayatzy Corinealdi, Lindsay Burdge, Michelle Krusiec, Mike Doyle, Jay Larson, and John Carroll Lynch. Drafthouse Films released it back on April 8, 2016.
