Netflix Renews BLACK SUMMER for Season 2

Netflix’s zombie thriller Black Summer with Jaime King was a big hit in the U.K. earlier this year and none other than Stephen King praised it over on Twitter.

And today we learned from Deadline that Netflix has given the show the green light for another 8-episode season.

Production begins in Canada in 2020 with King, Justin Chu Cary, and Christine Lee returning. King will be a producer this season.

The show is a semi-spin-off of Z Nation and “exists in the same universe” like Fear the Walking Dead and The Walking Dead. But where Z Nation was funny, Black Summer is brutal.

So take your pick.

Created and executive produced by Karl Schaefer and John Hyams, Black Summer begins six weeks after the start of the zombie apocalypse, when Rose, a mother played by Jaime King, is separated from her daughter, Anna, Rose embarks on a harrowing journey, stopping at nothing to find her daughter.

Thrust alongside a small group of refugees in North America, she must brave a hostile new world and make brutal decisions during the most deadly summer of a zombie apocalypse.

It stars Jaime King, Justin Chu Cary, Christine Lee, Sal Velez Jr., Kelsey Flower, Gwynyth Walsh, Mustafa Alabssi, Nyren B. Evelyn, Erika Hau, Edsson Morales, Aidan Fink, Kash Hill, Stafford Perry, Nathaniel Arcand, Tom Carey, Ty Olsson, and Zoe Marlett.
