THE PURGE 5 Adds Will Patton & Cassidy Freeman
Blumhouse, Platinum Dunes, and director Everardo Gout’s The Purge 5 is coming our way in July 2020. And today we’ve learned from THR that Will Patton (Halloween) and Cassidy Freeman (The Righteous Gemstones) have joined the cast.
Unfortunately, no character details have been revealed thus far. That said, we do know that they will be joining the previously announced cast of Ana de la Reguera (Nacho Libre) and Tenoch Huerta (Narcos: Mexico).
While plot details regarding this new Purge are being kept under tight wraps we do know that the film will ditch its usual metropolitan setting but still deal with class and race issues.
Franchise creator James DeMonaco returns to pen the script for this new entry and produce along with Jason Blum, Michael Bay, Brad Fuller, Andrew Form, and Sebastien K. Lemercier.
Universal Pictures will release the film on July 10, 2020.
The last time we saw the series on the big screen was in director Gerard McMurray’s The First Purge which was a prequel centering on – you guessed it – the first annual Purge.
It starred Y’lan Noel, Lex Scott Davis, Joivan Wade, Mugga, Christian Robinson, Lauren Vélez, Kristen Solis, and Marisa Tomei. Universal released it back on July 4, 2018.
The Purge has also spawned a TV series of the same name created by James DeMonaco. It starred Gabriel Chavarria, Hannah Emily Anderson, Jessica Garza, Lili Simmons, Amanda Warren, Colin Woodell, and Lee Tergesen, with Cindy Robinson reprising her role as the Purge Emergency Broadcast System, Megan Lewis.
