What if LOVECRAFT Wasn’t Making It Up & The Monsters Are Real?
Everyone loves a good H.P. Lovecraft tale of terror, am I right? Well, if you agree then you’re in luck as today we’re hearing that Game of Thrones creators David Benioff & D.B. Weiss are crafting a currently untitled thriller inspired by Hans Rodionoff’s graphic novel Lovecraft.
The Invitation and Destroyer screenwriters Phil Hay & Matt Manfredi will pen the script while The Invitation, Destroyer, and Jennifer’s Body director Karyn Kusama executive produces.
While exact plot details are being kept under wraps, Deadline reports the movie will be set within the Cthulhu mythos in 1920 and ask the horrifying question: what if H.P. Lovecraft wasn’t making it up and the monsters he created are real? Sounds like fun to me!
To give us a better idea of what to expect, Rodionoff’s graphic novel sports this synopsis:
A fascinating but disturbing study of one of America’s greatest horror writers, the intense LOVECRAFT examines the bizarre life of author and recluse, Howard Phillips Lovecraft. Since his early childhood in the late 1800s he was haunted with dark visions of demons and death. Trapped in a world of macabre creatures and grotesque thoughts, the writer found escape only by weaving his living nightmares into fictional blood-curling horror stories. An uncensored tour into a troubled mind, this beautifully painted hardcover edition traces the toils of a man considered both mentally ill and genius as he stumbles across the fine line between reality and insanity.
