Eddie Murphy Reveals Why He Turned Down GHOSTBUSTERS

As most of us know by this point in time, original Ghostbusters co-writer Dan Aykroyd says he wrote the film to star himself, John Belushi, and Eddie Murphy. And it turns out this is true.

And the other night, Murphy told Jimmy Fallon why he turned the film down, saying:

Yes, but I did Beverly Hills Cop. It wasn’t like I turned it down inasmuch as I wasn’t available because I was doing this other movie.”

Well, okay then. I guess I was kinda hoping that he had, I don’t know, a more entertaining reason for turning down one of the great comedies of our time. But there you go, plain and simple.

He was already doing Beverly Hills Cop.
