Oscars: JOKER Nominated For Best Actor, Best Picture & More
Todd Phillips’ Joker starring Joaquin Phoenix is going to be a major force at this year’s Oscars. In fact, the movie leads the pack with 11 nominations including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Film Editing, Best Cinematography, Best Costume Design, Best Makeup & Hairstyling, Best Original Score, Best Sound Editing, and Best Sound Mixing.
And, of course, Best Actor for Phoenix who said: “I feel honored and humbled to have been nominated by my fellow actors. The Academy’s encouragement helped ignite and sustain my career and I am incredibly grateful for that support. I’d like to also congratulate my fellow nominees for being recognized for their inspiring performances that have enriched our art form.”

Meanwhile, Joker sports a 69% rating over on Rotten Tomatoes with a Critics Consensus that reads: “Joker gives its infamous central character a chillingly plausible origin story that serves as a brilliant showcase for its star — and a dark evolution for comics-inspired cinema.”

Todd Phillips directed Joker from a script he co-wrote along with Scott Silver based on DC Comics characters. Phillips also produced the film along with Bradley Cooper and Emma Tillinger Koskoff. It stars Joaquin Phoenix, Robert De Niro, Zazie Beetz, and Frances Conroy.
