THE WALKING DEAD Killed Off Michael Rooker Because AMC Was “Very Cheap”
Well, it looks like we finally know why Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer star Michael Rooker was killed off in AMC’s hit zombie series The Walking Dead. Turns out… AMC was being very cheap.
Really?
When appearing recently at the Wales Comic-Con, Rooker said: “Walking Dead, they were cheap. AMC was very cheap. That’s probably why they killed me off because they knew I was gonna get more money the next season.”

Rooker can be seen next in Blumhouse’s upcoming horror re-imagining of that old-ass TV series Fantasy Island. That film centers on the enigmatic Mr. Roarke (played by Michael Pena) who makes the secret dreams of his lucky guests come true at a luxurious but remote tropical resort. But when the fantasies turn into nightmares, the guests have to solve the island’s mystery in order to escape with their lives.
Fantasy Island is directed by Jeff Wadlow from a screenplay he co-wrote along with Chris Roach and Jillian Jacobs. Jason Blum produces with Marc Toberoff.
Rooker and Pena’s co-stars include Lucy Hale, Austin Stowell, Portia Doubleday, Jimmy O. Yang, Ryan Hansen, Charlotte McKinney, Parisa Fitz-Henley, Robbie Jones, and Maggie Q. Sony releases Blumhouse’s Fantasy Island on Valentine’s Day aka February 14, 2020.
