Web series have been really hit or miss, and everyone is waiting for that special one that rises above the pack and achieves acclaim and true success. Could Joss Whedon be just the man to put it together?
During a Whedon question-and-answer panel Saturday, March 10th, during the SXSW Film Festival, after the co-writer and producer of The Cabin in the Woods (review here) joked to the packed house, “That’s it for horror. Hope you like rom-coms, ‘cause that’s what you’re getting,” he revealed his next project — “the next voice I’m hearing in my head,” he said — is a web series called Wastelanders. Whedon called it a “dark, weird piece.”
We should be speaking with Whedon (and The Cabin the Woods director Drew Goddard) in advance of that film’s opening on April 13th via Lionsgate so look for more soon on Wastelanders and everything else Joss has up his sleeve.
