Amazon Prime Members Can Watch James Secker’s THE SUMMONER For Free

After winning various prestigious awards at festivals, James Secker’s acclaimed short film The Summoner is finally available to stream on Amazon Prime, and best of all, it’s free to those in the US and the UK who already have a Prime membership.

Originally funded via Indiegogo, The Summoner is an ’80s-infused action short about a ghost hunter who sends restless spirits back to where they belong. It stars Adam McNab in the title role, with the supporting cast including Mhairi Calvey, Kate Davies-Speak, and Mike Carr. We awarded the twenty-minute film a highly positive review back in 2018, saying that it ‘oozes so much of an ’80s aesthetic that you can practically feel it dripping from the screen.’

To add to the overall ’80s aesthetic, the soundtrack includes a wealth of synthwave tunes, with some of the talented contributors including Sellorekt/LA Dreams, Nightstop, Irving Force, Maxthor, and Vincenzo Salvia, whose song ‘Italian Gigolo’ could be heard in the third season of Stranger Things.

Secker provided us with the following details about The Summoner, and you can also view the trailer in the player below. So, if you’re looking for a unique and action-packed short film which packs a hefty dose of both style and substance, we definitely recommend you check out The Summoner now that it’s on Amazon Prime. And since it’s free, there’s no excuse not to give it a go.

The Summoner official synopsis from writer/director James Secker:

“In a world where spirits of the dead are the most pervasive and dangerous threat we face, humankind must call upon the skills of an enigmatic ghost-hunter who gets more than he bargained for facing the deadliest threat of his career.”

Starring Adam McNab (Nightshooters), Mhairi Calvey (Braveheart), Kate Davies-Speak (The Barge People) and Directed by James Secker.Packing an epic original synthwave soundtrack by some of the greatest artists in the business: Waveshaper, Maxthor, Irving Force, Dream Fiend, Vincenzo Salvia, Nightstop, SelloRekt/ LA Dreams and more!
