Born on this day in 1970: actress Tracy Middendorf
Middendorf got her start in a daytime soap opera, but landed the role of Julie, Heather’s friend, in Wes Craven’s New Nightmare. In the film, she is being haunted by Freddy as well as Heather and her son, Dylan, and eventually becomes his victim.
Over her career, Middendorf has appeared in nearly fifty different television shows, many of which are genre. She played Maggie, the medical examiner and mother of the leading character in Scream: The TV Series. She played Tina, a girl troubled by a vampire in the pilot episode of Angel. She played Gracie, the daughter of a cult leader who was kicked out when she became pregnant out of wedlock in an episode of The X-Files called “Signs and Wonders.” Middendorf also played an unrelated role in The X-Files spinoff, Millennium.
