Born on this day in 1957: actor and stuntman James Jude Courtney
Courtney got started working as a tour guide at Universal Studios Hollywood, then transitioned to playing Conan in the Conan the Barbarian stage show. After that, he branched out to stunts and acting.
Courtney is best known for playing “The Shape,” aka Michael Myers in the 2018 version of Halloween. Though Nick Castle, The Shape in the original 1978 film, was said to be returning to the role in the film, Courtney confirmed that the vast majority of the work in the mask was done by him. He is returning to the two Hallowee sequels, Halloween Kills and Halloween Ends.
In addition to Halloween, Courtney played Der Kindestod in the TV series Buffy the Vampire Slayer; The Freeway Maniac; Philadelphia Experiment II; and he was the stunt coordinator on The Nurse.
