This Day in Horror: Happy Birthday Sherilyn Fenn
Born on this day in 1965: actress Sherilyn Fenn
Fenn is best known for her role as Audrey Horne on Twin Peaks. Audrey was a schoolmate of murdered Laura Palmer, and although they weren’t friends, she loved that Laura tutored her mentally handicapped brother – but didn’t love her when she discovered Laura was having an affair with her father. The end of the original series had Audrey as one of the victims of an explosion, though she survived.
Fenn reprised her role of Audrey in Twin Peaks: The Return, trapped in a loveless marriage with a sociopathic son. It is suggested that, while in a coma following the explosion, Dale Cooper’s doppelganger raped Audrey, and her son was the result.
She had a small role in another Lynch film, Wild at Heart, and starred in Jennifer Lynch’s film Boxing Helena, in which she played a woman who becomes the object of obsession of a surgeon. He cuts off her legs and, eventually, her arms, in order to keep her captive.
