THE FRIGHTENERS TV Series In the Works?
I don’t know about you, but I love King Kong and Dead Alive director Peter Jackson’s horror-comedy The Frighteners with Michael J. Fox, Dee Wallace, Jeffrey Combs, and Jake Busey.
And so I was super excited when our buddies over at Bloody Disgusting reported that Charlize Theron’s company, Denver and Delilah Productions (Mindhunter) was developing a series based on the film AND is also exploring the possibilities of a film that could be “stripped of humor.”

Cool, right?! Well… then they updated the pieces saying that a source close to Denver and Delilah passed along word that the series is “no longer in development due to complicated rights issues.”
Bummer.

Once an architect, Frank Bannister (Michael J. Fox) now passes himself off as an exorcist of evil spirits. To bolster his facade, he claims his “special” gift is the result of a car accident that killed his wife. But what he does not count on is more people dying in the small town where he lives. As he tries to piece together the supernatural mystery of these killings, he falls in love with the wife (Trini Alvarado) of one of the victims and deals with a crazy FBI agent (Jeffrey Combs).
