J.J. Abrams Snags Supernatural Western Revenge Thriller THE PINKERTON
J.J. Abrams and Bad Robot have picked up Kin screenwriter Daniel Casey’s The Pinkerton.
The plot details are being kept under wraps but THR reports the film has been described as a supernatural revenge thriller in a Western setting. Pinkerton is the name of the detective agency that got its start in the mid-1800s, becoming famous for acting as security for President Abraham Lincoln and working for corporations during America’s industrial age.

This news comes on the heels of word that J.J. Abrams and Bad Robot are developing movie and TV ideas based on DC’s Justice League Dark.

As mentioned above, Casey’s last film was the sci-fi thriller Kin which centered on a teenager who stumbles upon a high-tech gun that holds special powers while scavenging for copper wire. When his brother lands in trouble with a local crime boss, the two take the mysterious weapon and go on the run, finding themselves in a life-and-death battle against an army of thugs and two heavily armored, futuristic soldiers who want their gun back.
The film was released in the United States by Lionsgate on August 31, 2018.
