Happy Birthday Penn Jillette
Though we’ve already celebrated “This Day in Horror” with a look back at Creature from the Black Lagoon, we also want to wish Penn Jillette a happy birthday today. Though he’s not the first name you think of when it comes to horror, he’s got a special connection to Dread Central and our parent company, Epic Pictures.
In 2018, DREAD Presents released Director’s Cut, written by and starring Penn Jillette. If you haven’t seen it for yourself yet, give the trailer and synopsis a look-see below.
Synopsis:
Herbert Blount (Jillette) aspires to replace the real director of a movie and make it his own by capturing the lead actress and inflicting much horror upon her in his version.
Director’s Cut is directed by Adam Rifkin; in addition to Jillette, the film stars Missi Pyle and Harry Hamlin (Penn’s pal Teller also has a killer cameo!). You can pick up a DVD/Blu-ray of Director’s Cut for yourself, HERE.
Film Trivia:
Penn Jillette lost so much weight (around 120 lbs) after principle photography ended that they were unable to go back and do any re-shoots or pick-up scenes as he looked so dramatically different. (Source)
Penn Jillette was born on March 5, 1955 in Greenfield, Massachusetts and, today, all of us a Dread Central wish him a very Happy Birthday!
