Pooka Returns This April in INTO THE DARK: POOKA LIVES
You asked for it. And now you’ve got it. Pooka will return this April in Juan of the Dead director Alejandro Brugués Into the Dark: Pooka Lives.
Written by Ryan Copple, Pooka Lives centers on a group of thirty-something high-school friends from who create a Creepypasta about Pooka for laughs, but are shocked when it becomes so viral on the Internet that it actually manifests more murderous versions of the creature.
The cast includes Felicia Day (Supernatural), Wil Wheaton (Stand By Me), Malcolm Barrett (Timeless), Rachel Bloom (Crazy Ex-Girlfriend), Jonah Ray (Mystery Science Theater 3000), Lyndie Greenwood (The Expanse) and Gavin Stenhouse (Black Mirror).
The original film was directed by Nacho Vigalondo (Timecrimes, Colossal) and told the tale of a struggling actor who takes on a seasonal holiday job as the mascot for the year’s hottest new toy: Pooka. However, after putting the costume on, he develops two personalities…
The first film sports an 86% approval rating over on Rotten Tomatoes with a Critics Consensus that reads: A few missteps aside, Vigalondo’s distinct style and a nightmarish plot add a gratifying dark twist to such an innocent holiday.
