READY OR NOT Directors to Helm SCREAM Reboot This May!

As we all know, Spyglass as a new Scream movie headed our way. And today we hear via Discussing Film that the new movie has snagged Ready or Not directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett and is set to begin filming in May.

Chad Villella and original Scream writer Kevin Williamson will executive produce. William Sherak, James Vanderbilt, and Paul Neinstein will produce the film.

It is unknown if it will follow the story of the past four Scream films or pave a new direction for the franchise. But plot details say it will follow a woman returning to her home town to try to find out who has been committing a series of vicious crimes.

In the meantime, Scream 4 followed this synopsis:

It has been many years since the Ghostface Killer cut a deadly path through the town of Woodsboro. In order to get over the trauma of those horrific events, Sidney Prescott has written a self-help book. She returns to Woodsboro for her book tour and reconnects with old friends Gale Weathers and Sheriff Dewey. However, Sidney’s arrival also sparks the return of Ghostface, putting Sidney and everyone she loves in danger.

Wes Craven directed Scream 4 from a screenplay written by Kevin Williamson. Craven and Williamson also produced the film along with Iya Labunka. It starred David Arquette, Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox, Emma Roberts, Hayden Panettiere, Anthony Anderson, Alison Brie, Adam Brody, Rory Culkin, Erik Knudsen, Mary, McDonnell, Marley Shelton, and Nico Tortorella.

The film currently holds a Fresh 60% rating over on Rotten Tomatoes with a Critics Consensus that reads: “The franchise is showing its age, but Scream 4 is undeniably an improvement over its predecessor, with just enough meta-humor and clever kills.”
