Netflix Temporarily Shuts Down Mike Flanagan’s MIDNIGHT MASS
Production on Netflix and director Mike Flanagan’s upcoming series Midnight Mass was set to kick off this spring in Vancouver, with Flanagan directing all seven episodes. But today we hear – go figure – production has been temporarily shut down.
Flanagan broke the news over on Twitter, writing: “Production on MIDNIGHT MASS, which was scheduled to begin Monday, has been temporarily shut down (along with the rest of Netflix’s scripted productions.) Wishing safety and health for our amazing cast and crew.”

The killer cast includes The Haunting of Hill House stars Kate Siegel, Henry Thomas, Robert Longstreet, and Annabeth Gish with Alex Essoe (Doctor Sleep), Zach Gilford (The Purge: Anarchy), Hamish Linklater (Legion), Michael Trucco (Hunter Killer), Samantha Sloyan (Hush), Rahul Abburi (Killer Ransom), Crystal Balint (Shut In), Matt Biedel (Altered Carbon), Rahul Kohli (Supergirl), Kristin Lehman (Bleeders), Igby Rigney (Blue Bloods), and Annarah Shephard.
Whew. That’s one hell of a cast!

Flanagan will direct and serve as an executive producer on the limited series alongside Macy. It centers on an isolated island community that experiences miraculous events – and frightening omens – after the arrival of a charismatic, mysterious young priest.
