Short Horror Film DINAH is a Chilling Urban Legend for the Internet Age
Dinah is a short film that follows one dreadful evening’s events for an egotistical amatuer writer played by Dr. Scott E. Brosius. He polishes his vintage typewriter in preparation to write his masterpiece, but before he does, he builds his confidence by trashing short films on YouTube. He stumbles across a video narrated by Amanda Terman that tells the story of Dinah (Sofia Plass). When he finds her sad story pedestrian, he dislikes it and an angry DInah disappears from the screen. After a power outage and a short phone call with his neighbor (James Williams), he realizes the severity of his errors and has only moments to correct it before DInah puts an end to his bullying for good. After all, her name stands for judgment in Hebrew.

Dinah premiered at NEO International film festival where it took home best horror short. Since then it has gone on to win three more awards and five nominations in a very limited festival run. It was produced by Ron Erjavec and Jennifer Beech Williams. The chilling original soundtrack was created by Weary Pines. The Special FX Makeup was done by Ron George. It was shot, edited, written, and directed by James Williams.
James Williams was born and raised in Northeast Ohio. His passion for film started at a young age when he spent weekend evenings attending movies with his father. In his thirties, he began to pursue his passion for film by writing screenplays. His second feature, The Blood Loop, was an Academy Nicholl quarterfinalist. After a few successful short scripts were produced by other filmmakers, James decided to pick up the camera himself. Self taught from YouTube tutorials, reading books, and filling any spot he could on local film crews, James finally shot his first film, Cooper’s Monster, with his wife and one-year-old son. One year later James has four films under his name and is progressing as a filmmaker. He gravitates towards making the type of popcorn horror movies he and his dad so loved at the cinema.
