The film stars Annabelle Wallis (Annabelle), Mckenna Grace (Annabelle Comes Home), George Young (Containment), Jake Abel (Supernatural), Maddie Hasson (God Bless America), Michole Briana White (Encino Man), Jacqueline McKenzie (Netflix’s Pine Gap), and Ingrid Bisu (The Nun).
Plot details are under wraps but Wan has said that he’s super excited to go back to his indie roots with this hard-R thriller. An original horror idea (not a reboot/remake or anything based on existing IP) with old school, practical effects and no giant, blue screen sets.

The “hard-R thriller” with “old school, practical effects” is written by Akela Cooper (The Nun 2, Hell Fest) and JT Petty (Hellbenders, The Burrowers) from a story by Wan and Bisu, who married last year. Wan also produces with Michael Clear. The film is being independently financed through Starlight Media and Midas Innovation, who will retain distribution rights in China.
