Exclusive: Trash Panda Entertainment Options Supernatural Horror THE BLACK-JAR MAN

Trash Panda Entertainment has optioned the screenplay to the horror-thriller The Black-Jar Man written by Mark Steensland (Jakob’s Wife, The Special). The story follows a woman racing to rescue her husband’s soul after it is stolen by a malevolent entity known as the Black-Jar Man.

“I am so thrilled to have my script in the hands of Sean and Christian” says Mark. “After seeing Max Winslow and the House of Secrets at Shriekfest in 2019, I know they will make a spectacular movie!”

Producers are Christian Beckman (Watchmen, Black Panther, Tron Legacy), Andrea Nelson, Kat Olson (F.R.E.D.I., The Other Mother) and four-time Emmy® Award-winner, Sean Olson (Max Winslow and the House of Secrets, F.R.E.D.I.), who also will direct the film. “I am looking forward to bringing the world that Mark created to life,” says Olson; “it’s an incredible story with heart and thrills”.

The Black-Jar Man is the second film for Trash Panda Entertainment. Their first feature F.R.E.D.I. won “Best of Fest” at Geena Davis’ Bentonville Film Festival and is now playing on Netflix. Trash Panda’s sister company Quantum Creation FX will be handling the makeup effects. “Quantum Creation FX will be getting back to its makeup effects roots on Black-Jar Man,” says Beckman; “just like we did on Splinter, House of the Devil, and Cabin Fever 2.”
