With Christian Ackerman’s short film Hell’s Belles having premiered this past Saturday, March 24th, in Hollywood, California, we thought we’d bring you a photo gallery from the red carpet invitation only event, as well as word on the audience’s response. Read on!
“The premiere was kick-ass!” said Hell’s Belles writer, director and editor Ackerman of the event, who along with producer Drina Durazo organized the premiere, which was co-sponsored by Dread Central. Held on the picturesque rooftop of the Cosmo Lofts Building overlooking Hollywood, the Hell’s Belles premiere kicked off with a red carpet, two open bars, hors d’oeuvres and appropriately rocking music spun by DJs Xalox B and DJ Devious prior to the screening.
“We had a huge turnout, and I was happy to unleash the Belles onto the world,” effused Ackerman. “I tried to make it an experience everyone would remember, and it seemed they all had a great time!”
Industry in attendance in addition to Ackerman and Durazo included Hell’s Belles cast members Ariel Teal Toombs, Mayra Rodriguez and Bonjah as well as production designer Matt Trotter, composer Ken Jacobsen, hair and makeup artist Jacky Belle and assistant director Tommy Bernard. Also in attendance for the bash were Kevin Tenney (Night of the Demons), John Gulager (Piranha 3DD), Diane Goldner (the Feast series), filmmaker John Michael Elfers (Kiss Before the Slaughter), Eve Mauro (Sorority Party Massacre), Yossi Sasson (Dead and Gone), Allison Kyler (Chromeskull: Laid to Rest 2), Brooklynne James (The Pandora Experiment), horror journalist and Inside Horror co-host Staci Layne Wilson and many more, all of whom responded enthusiastically to the horror-comedy, as they did to the creature effects and makeup as provided by Dan Crawley (Watchmen).
“I can now focus on finishing the feature Hell’s Belles script with my partner, Chuck Foster,” said Ackerman of his future plans for the flick’s universe. “We’re working on it all through April and will get it out to the industry for funding. We’re really excited about how it’s turning out! It’s a fun as hell script following our female leads as they battle a horde of demons invading their town! As for the short, we’re sending it out to various genre fests over the next few months and look forward to enjoying those new crowds!”
Hell’s Belles revolves around (according to the official synopsis), “best friends and inexperienced Occult Specialists Adria Blackmoor and Helena Garcia, who on their way to a bar get sidetracked by the local sheriff to save a young girl from being kidnapped by a sadomasochistic demon. The girls must figure out a way to stop him from taking her to Hell as his personal sex slave and get to the bar before last call!”
