MORTAL KOMBAT Has Never Looked This Good: Writer Teases James Wan’s R-Rated Reboot
Producer James Wan and director Simon McQuoid’s live-action Mortal Kombat hits in January 2021. And today screenwriter Greg Russo teased that the franchise has never looked this good.
He tweets: “Already done. (and bloody too). Cutscenes? Forget cutscenes, my man. MK has never looked this good. 01/15/21.” Check out his tweet below.

On top of Lewis Tan as an undisclosed lead character, this reboot’s cast includes Joe Taslim as Sub-Zero, Jessica McNamee as Sonya Blade, Josh Lawson as Kano, Ludi Lin as Liu Kang, Mehcad Brooks as Jackson ‘Jax’ Briggs, Tadanobu Asano as Raiden, Sisi Stringer as Mileena, Chin Han as Shang Tsung, and Hiroyuki Sanada as Scorpion.
This reboot is said to center on a male protagonist who becomes drawn into the interdimensional tournament and begins to realize his true potential as a result.

Mortal Kombat marks award-winning commercial director Simon McQuoid’s feature directorial debut. He’s working from a screenplay written by Greg Russo. James Wan and Todd Garner are producing with Larry Kasanoff, E. Bennett Walsh, Michael Clear, and Sean Robins serving as executive producers. The flick will be unleashed on January 15, 2021.
