NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET Almost Became FEAR FACTOR Style Reality Series Hosted By Robert Englund
Did you know that Robert Englund almost hosted a reality TV series based on Wes Craven’s classic 1984 supernatural slasher flick A Nightmare on Elm Street? Well, now you do.
The story goes that following the success of Freddy vs. Jason in 2004, CBS approached Englund to host a reality series dubbed A Nightmare on Elm Street: Real Nightmares.

Screenrant describes the series like this: “The show saw contestants send in audition tapes describing their deepest fears. Once selected, Englund would travel to their hometown and interview them further, asking increasingly personal psychological questions. After that, the contestant’s nightmares would be recreated on a soundstage in Los Angeles, and they would be flown in to experience them for real.”
If all of this wasn’t bad enough, it looks like six episodes were produced but CBS pulled the plug prior to its planned 2005 release and to this day, not a single episode has surfaced. Englund says it was prematurely canceled due to nervous CBS lawyers and Fear Factor. Bummer.
