The Best Horror Movies Streaming Now on Prime Video

Last Updated: March 5, 2024

Prime Video is winning when it comes to horror programming this month. The streamer is gifting the late David Lynch’s fans another chance to rewatch Blue Velvet. They are also giving sci-fi kids a chance to relive the Back to the Future trilogy and the entire RoboCop franchise this March. So, this app is not forgetting us until Halloween, like some other streamers. This buffet of choices made it a fool’s errand to pick just five titles to gush over this month. However, I was a woman on a mission. I have pulled the most important things from this list of chaotic March programming. Do not just take my word for it. Read all about each amazing title below.

Check out which five titles have my attention this March.

The Addams Family (Seasons 1–2)

Follow the creepy and kooky Addams family on their constant misadventures. If you are weird and on a mission to see the original sitcom in order, then Prime Video is your girl this month. They are giving us both seasons of Addams Family hijinks. This is a dream come true for weirdos like me who have only caught random episodes out of sequence. I am so happy about finally getting to see the complete series this March that I could cry. Don’t bother looking for me on the weekends because I will be spending them with Morticia and Gomez Addams.

American Gangster (dir. Ridley Scott)

A New York City cop attempts to bring down a Harlem drug lord in this film inspired by Frank Lucas’ life. This partial biographical thriller has many actors we love, even outside of the Denzel Washington. Where else will you see Chiwetel Ejiofor, Idris Elba, Joe Morton, RZA, and Carla Gugino in the same film? The majority of this cast is worth the ridiculous runtime alone. If I watch one movie that is two hours and forty minutes this month, you better believe it will be American Gangster. This is easily one of the best Ridley Scott projects we have gotten this millennium, and I am so glad to see it on Prime Video.

Blacula (dir. William Crain)

Dracula turns an 18th-century African prince into a vampire and locks him away. When the new vampire is freed from his long slumber, he finds himself in 1970s Los Angeles. I only watched this movie for the first time a few years ago. Because Blaxploitation movies are constantly disrespected, I have only seen the film with commercial breaks. So, I am jumping at the chance to see William Marshall as Blacula uninterrupted. This movie is such an important moment in Black horror, and I hope more people take the opportunity to catch it while it is on Prime Video. I also highly encourage you to check out Horror Noire and assemble a list of other iconic Black horror movies that should be on your radar.

Drive (dir. Nicolas Winding Refn)

A Hollywood stuntman moonlighting as a getaway driver gets into trouble with gangsters. This Ryan Gosling and Carey Mulligan vehicle has been on my radar for years. I have to force myself to finally hit play while Prime Video is giving me the chance to fix this oversight. I do not know if this will be the action-packed thriller of my dreams. However, I know Christina Hendricks and Ron Perlman are in this cast so the odds are high that it might be my new personality. This might be my Fast & Furious, and I am just 14 years late to the party.

Holland (dir. Mimi Cave)

A woman’s seemingly perfect life is turned upside down when she discovers a twisted secret. We all know that Nicole Kidman keeps a job. However, we really love it when she does a weird little dramatic thriller. We also have been wondering how Mimi Cave would follow up her last film, Fresh. So, I am leaning all the way in on Holland and am so glad it will be heading to Prime Video right after it takes a bow at SXSW. The film will land on the streamer on March 27. So, you have a couple of weeks to make up excuses to call out of work, family obligations, etc.
