Up until now, game developer Gearbox hasn’t had much to say about the multi-player aspect of its highly anticipated title Aliens: Colonial Marines, except that there would be multi-player in the game.

However, in a recent interview with IGN, Gearbox President Randy Pitchford revealed a few new details on the upcoming game’s multi-player and gave us some insight on the rumored cancellation of Aliens: Colonial Marines.

Colonial Marines was always fine. There was an RPG that was canceled. I think that’s what confused people.” Pitchford went on to say, “Everyone was so excited about it that they sent out a press release before the ink was even on the deal.

Pitchford also mentioned the development time for Aliens: Colonial Marines stating that, “In fact when all is said and done, the total development length on this game will be about the same length as Borderlands 1, a little bit less actually.

When speaking about the multi-player maps, Pitchford talked about one multi-player map in particular that is inspired by the film, saying, “So, the Derelict, that’s a cool environment. No one’s really been inside there, but we know what it looks like.

Gearbox has also gone on the record and confirmed that Aliens: Colonial Marines will feature the classic game multi-player mode Team Deathmatch. In addition to Team Deathmatch, the game will feature other modes that require teams to think more tactically to complete key objectives.

Of course, Aliens: Colonial Marines will feature a kick-ass campaign for you to enjoy as well. A new gameplay video has made its way across the Internet that shows off a ton of unseen footage from the game. You can check it out below.
