THE WALKING DEAD Movie Won’t Be Coming to Theaters After All

It looks like we have some bad news for The Walking Dead fans who were looking forward to seeing Andrew Lincoln reprise the role of Rick Grimes on the big screen.

AMC Theaters and Regal Cinemas have both denounced Universal Studios following the studio releasing films such as The Hunt. The Invisible Man, and Trolls: World Tour straight to VOD.

And Universal is the studio set to produce and distribute the movies…

ComicBook.com says that “if theater chains hold to their promise of not showing Universal Studios movies in theaters — and if more join the initiative — then Rick Grimes won’t be seen in many movie theaters around the country and world.” Bummer?

Based on the comic book series written by Robert Kirkman, this gritty drama portrays life in the months and years that follow a zombie apocalypse. A group of survivors travel in search of safety and security, constantly on the move in search of a secure home. But the pressure each day to stay alive sends many in the group to the deepest depths of human cruelty, and they soon discover that the overwhelming fear of the survivors can be more deadly than the zombies walking among them. At times, the interpersonal conflicts present a greater threat to their continuing survival than the walkers that roam the country.
