Indie Filmmaker Monte Light Releases Pandemic-Themed Horror Short ISOLATION/SHIP

Monte Light’s new short film Isolation/ship was made over the past month, during the self-quarantine imposed by COVID-19. None of the actors met in person, and they all filmed their individual shots separately across four states using available equipment. In addition to writing the screenplay, Light provided each of the performers storyboards and specific notes, so that everything would edit together seamlessly in post-production. The result is a metaphorical, melancholy thriller about modern relationships.

Check out Isolation/ship embedded at the top of the article and read more about the short film below.

“Every plot point, every line of dialogue, every character symbolizes a different aspect of what our world is experiencing,” says Light. The short film stars Justin Michael Terry, (Stargate: Origins), Michael Klug, (Space), and scream queen Sheri Davis, among others.

Isolation/ship represents an effort on the part of the independent film community to not let the current crisis stifle creative expression. It has been entered in several of the current quarantine film festivals, including the Roger Corman #CormanChallenge movement.

Light’s sci-fi horror feature Space came out on March 31st, and has received favorable reviews. It is currently available on DVD and various digital platforms. Check out the trailer and synopsis below.

Synopsis:
In the year 2050, Dr. Ada Gray and her fellow astronauts aboard The Udo fight for survival after an accident leaves them stranded in deep space.
