This Day in Horror History: Happy Birthday to “First Jason” Ari Lehman
The actor responsible for one of the most infamous jump scares in horror history, Ari Lehman was only 15 when he appeared as young Jason Voorhees in the original Friday the 13th. Ironically, Jason’s appearance wasn’t even part of the original screenplay (which ended with Alice floating on Crystal Lake in a canoe); it was suggested by special FX guru Tom Savini, who worked extensively on the film.
In the years since, Lehman has parlayed his brief-yet-iconic appearance into a musical career as the frontman of the metal act First Jason. He’s also got his own line of hot sauce!

Lehman recently played a security gaurd named Jason in Tom Holland’s Rock, Paper, Scissors.
Ari Lehman was born on this day in 1965 and, today, all of us at Dread Central wish him a very Happy Birthday!
