This Day in Horror History: Happy Birthday IT and GINGER SNAPS Actress, Emily Perkins!
On this day in horror history, actress Emily Perkins was born in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada in 1977. Perkins is perhaps best known around these parts for her role as Young Beverly Marsh in the original 1900 miniseries based on Stephen King’s IT and as Brigitte Fitzgerald in Ginger Snaps, Ginger Snaps 2: Unleashed, and Ginger Snaps Back: The Beginning.
She has also had roles as “Punk Receptionist” in Ghostbusters: Afterlife and Up in the Air director Jason Reitman and Jennifer’s Body screenwriter Diablo Cody’s teen-comedy Juno as well as the role of Nancy in Colin Minihan’s Extraterrestrial with Brittany Allen and Michael Ironside.
And let’s not forget her roles in shows like The X-Files (“All Souls”), The Twilight Zone (“Night Route”), Dead Like Me (“Haunted”), and Becky Rosen in Supernatural episodes “Sympathy for the Devil”, “The Real Ghostbusters”, “Season 7, Time for a Wedding!”, and “Atomic Monsters.”

Shares a birthday with Ben Heller with whom she co-starred in Stephen King’s It (1990). They were both born in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. Nicholas Hamilton, of It (2017) and It Chapter Two (2019), shares the same birth date, May 4.
Both Emily Perkins and Katharine Isabelle (her co-star in the Ginger Snaps (2000) movies) have guest starred on Supernatural (2005) and The X-Files (1993); but in different episodes.
In addition to the Ginger Snaps movie series, Emily Perkins and Katharine Isabelle have played sisters in Another Cinderella Story (2008).

Her husband, Ernest Mathijs, is a film professor at the University of British Columbia. They met in 2005 at a film festival, where he was researching a book on cult films that included the “Ginger Snaps” trilogy, in which Emily starred.
