HORROR’S HALLOWED GROUNDS Episode 7: Explore John Carpenter’s THE FOG Filming Locations with Sean Clark
In the latest episode of Horror’s Hallowed Grounds, filmmaker and collector Sean Clark explores the filming locations of John Carpenter’s The Fog (released in 1980). Give it a spin embedded at the top of the article.
Video Description:
Episode 7 (John Carpenter’s The Fog) was shot at the same time as Episode 6 (The Howling). Both in Northern California, Buz and I spent a few days there shooting both episodes. It was a lot of fun. There are lots of great stories to be told about this one. I’ll get to those if and when I record audio commentaries for these.
John Carpenter directed The Fog from a screenplay he co-wrote with Debra Hill; the film stars Adrienne Barbeau, Jamie Lee Curtis, and Janet Leigh. Give the trailer and synopsis a look-see below.
Synopsis:
Strange things begin to occurs as a tiny California coastal town prepares to commemorate its centenary. Inanimate objects spring eerily to life; Rev. Malone (Hal Holbrook) stumbles upon a dark secret about the town’s founding; radio announcer Stevie (Adrienne Barbeau) witnesses a mystical fire; and hitchhiker Elizabeth (Jamie Lee Curtis) discovers the mutilated corpse of a fisherman. Then a mysterious iridescent fog descends upon the village, and more people start to die.
