Must-Read: FCC Complaints Against “Satanic” THE WALKING DEAD Are F*cking Hilarious
AMC’s The Walking Dead is one of TV most popular and most hated shows. According to a 28-page document obtained by Observer earlier this year, viewer complaints lodged against the series to the FCC, reveal what people hate most about the series.
Here are some choice picks below.
“How is such violent (and sexual) content allowed on tv? It’s not just this show of theirs, but walking dead, breaking bad, etc. that they show. It’s pretty graphic. For example, the original psycho movie didn’t show such violence, especially the shower scene. There’s no reason to see him actually stabbing the man in the shower. Which had homosexual undertones as well because in the movie it’s a woman that is killed. Not a naked man in the shower killed by man. AMC seems to be a satanic tv network and I believe this is a free channel, not a paid channel.“
“I am filing a huge complaint against the violence that was on display in the walking dead over the past year. The show has crossed a line into satanic over the top violence. If I knew the process to file a lawsuit and had the funds I would do so. This kind of violence has no place in this country. I can not believe how you could approve this for television. You should all be ashamed and may go have mercy on your souls.”
“I recently saw Ep. 1 of season 7 of The Walking Dead on Netflix and it was excruciatingly painful to watch. TV is usually a safe harbor for TV viewers. Yes, cable TV shows love to push the envelope and be “cutting edge”, but there is a limit. Before the conversation was cable Vs. network, and cable violence was tolerated, but that’s all gone with streaming. There is no network safety net anymore. Yet, TV must still remain a safe harbor for viewers. Ep. 1 of season 7 was no more than pure torture porn. Now, let me quantify what I’m saying. I’m a filmmaker and love horror films and thrillers and up to now have had no problem with seeing zombies hacked to pieces on TWD. But, watching human beings bashed over the head with a barbwired basball bat over and over is just plain gore. Here I am days later and still freaked out from what I saw and can’t erase the image from my memory. It was that horrific. TV must have standards and practices whether or not it’s cable, network, or streaming. Viewers must be protected from extreme and excessive gore and violence. TWD crossed the line with episode 7 and they should clearly be told that dishing out torture porn is just not fun or creative storytelling.”
“I am referring tot he Walking Dead program on AMC. The offensive words are becoming normalized on TV. With the introduction of Negan, words such as; dick, dickhead, balls, prick, ass are too common on this program. This is desensitizing children to such language and tone of the many reasons for the crudeness and lack of civility in our culture. Not to mention the extreme violence and graphics. Good stories don’t need such extreme language.”
“CMT ran an ad by AMC.com for TWD (The Walking Dead) where they graphically show a man cutting, sewing and wearing the skin of another human as a mask. I’m watching Princess Diaries 2 for goodness sakes, and now I have that vivid sickening image in my mind! I couldn’t get to the remote quick enough to change the channel before it was over. It’s one thing if you willingly choose to watch that kind of show, but it’s just plain WRONG to impose these sick images on people during commercials!!!!!!!!!“
“Walking dead….showed a moron sewing a face of another as a mask. Fucking filth…..“
“Very upset and disappointed that apparently AMC is now using the “F” word in the Fear the Walking Dead and Walking Dead series. When will this deterioration of our language stop?! Can’t the FCC do something to stop this? What happened to prime time limitation on bad language? Or is use of the “F” work now not considered foul language. Please, do something to stop this!”
“On the episode of the Fear The Walking Dead they allowed the use of the word fuck on a regular tv station program. Kids watch this show, it’s supposed to be a scary show not pornography show. I realize the world is changing… but.. really was that necessary?“
“Am I to understand that AMC channel has permission to use profane words on television show The Walking Dead and Fear the Walking Dead and other programs that are aired in prime time hours? There must a restriction of some words such as(f**k) that was used on Fear the Dead at 9:00 pm on Sunday October 15th. This show is viewed by hundreds of people of all ages, surely I’m not the only one to complain. My entire family love the shows, including children ranging from 8 -17 years of age. The language is not necessary to the whole picture.”
“Hello, I was watching The Walking Dead on AMC’s streaming platform. The commercials are at a significantly higher volume than the program itself. Please force AMC to lower the volume on their commercials to the same level of their programs.”
