This Day in Horror History: SEE NO EVIL Was Released in 2006
On this day in horror history, director Gregory Dark’s slasher See No Evil with wrestler Kane (Glenn Jacobs) was released into theaters back on May 19, 2006.
Written by Dan Madigan, the film went through tons of titles before See No Evil was chosen. The original working title of the film was Eye Scream Man but was later changed to The Goodnight Man, then Goodnight before settling on See No Evil.
Produced by Joel Simon it is the first film produced by WWE Films.
Rated R for strong gruesome violence and gore throughout, language, sexual content and some drug use, the film centers on a reclusive maniac (Kane) who terrorizes a group of young petty criminals who have arrived to clean up a rotting hotel as part of their community service. After one of them is kidnapped, the petrified group must find a way to fight off a seemingly unstoppable foe.
The film sports a 9% approval rating over on Rotten Tomatoes with a Critics Consensus that reads: See No Evil is packed with cliches from countless other teen slasher films, making for a predictable, scare-free waste of time.
It stars Kane as Jacob Goodnight along with Christina Vidal, Samantha Noble, Luke Pegler, Michael J. Pagan, Penny McNamee, Craig Horner, Mikhael Wilder, Steven Vidler, Cecily Polson, Tiffany Lamb, Sam Cotton, Corey Parker Robinson, Annalise Woods, Zoe Ventoura, and Rachael Taylor (Transformers, The Darkest Hour).
