Are Ya Ready, Kids? CASPER & E.T. Hit Netflix Next Month!

Are ya ready, Kids? I can’t hear you! Okay, that out of the way, today we learned that two kid classics are coming to Netflix next month: Brad Silberling’s Casper with Christina Ricci and Steven Spielberg’s E.T. with Henry Thomas & Drew Barrymore.

Casper centers on a kind young ghost who peacefully haunts a mansion in Maine. When specialist James Harvey (Bill Pullman) arrives to communicate with Casper and his fellow spirits, he brings along his teenage daughter, Kat (Christina Ricci). Casper quickly falls in love with Kat, but their budding relationship is complicated not only by his transparent state, but also by his troublemaking apparition uncles and their mischievous antics.

The film sports a 46% approval rating over on Rotten Tomatoes with a Critics Consensus that reads: A meandering, mindless family movie that frequently resorts to special effects and transparent sappiness.

E.T. begins after a gentle alien becomes stranded on Earth, the being is discovered and befriended by a young boy named Elliott (Henry Thomas). Bringing the extraterrestrial into his suburban California house, Elliott introduces E.T., as the alien is dubbed, to his brother and his little sister, Gertie (Drew Barrymore), and the children decide to keep its existence a secret. Soon, however, E.T. falls ill, resulting in government intervention and a dire situation for both Elliott and the alien.

The film sports a 98% approval rating over on Rotten Tomatoes with a Critics Consensus that reads: Playing as both an exciting sci-fi adventure and a remarkable portrait of childhood, Steven Spielberg’s touching tale of a homesick alien remains a piece of movie magic for young and old.
